A Walk In The Garden

Tags:

Sometimes all you need is to take a walk through the garden to notice this summer’s cutest trends. For this blog post, I had the opportunity to work with Carmen O from Carmistry who did all of the makeup for this post.

Off-the-shoulder tops are not going to be going anywhere soon, so don’t worry about throwing out your ’70s-inspired outfits yet. They’re also amazing for preventing nasty tan lines.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I never leave the house without at least a ring on. Something that I’ve been loving though are minimalistic watches. My two favourite colours for every season are grey, and rose gold.

So I have a love-hate relationship with rompers and jumpsuits. I love how easy they are to wear since they’re essentially one whole outfit. However, my tip is to make sure you try each and everyone on. I have a shorter torso than I have legs, so it’s always difficult for me to find a romper or jump suit that sits on my body properly.

The most ideal body type for a jumpsuit or romper in my opinion is a balanced body. If your torso is just as long as your legs, go ahead and romp-er away.

I’m never confident enough to rock a red based eye, but Carmen makes it look so flawless when paired with her gorgeous lip colour and nails!

Fruits are always a fun way to say “I-Wish-I-Was-On-Vacation” during the summer. Last summer, pineapples were all-the-rage. This summer? It’s lemons!

I won’t lie to you. I’m obsessed with my lemon bag! I even struck up an amazing conversation with an older lady on the subway on my way back home because of it.

I honestly wish I had the body type for culottes. I unfortunately don’t, but Carmen sure as heck-does! They really compliment the frame and can help make you appear taller.

Chokers might have been brought back from the ’90s, but I don’t see them leaving us any time soon. A simple black choker is so easy to pair with any outfit.

If you ask anyone, they will tell you that my closet is mostly solid colours, but this summer I’m really finding my stride with floral patterns. Patterns are a great way to distract the eye if you want to hide any “trouble” areas. I’m not perfect, I have a tummy I like to hide too.

I hope this stroll through our little fashion garden has put a smile on your face.
