The mascara claims:
- buildable volume
- eye-opening lift & curl
- longwear
- water-resistant
- resists sweat and smudging
- ultra-black shade
The mascara is supposed to do double duty with its flat-to-fat brush. The fat side is supposed to load and lift, while the flat side is supposed to define and curl.
I didn’t love this mascara, but I’d be okay if someone gifted it to me. Let’s unpack this a little bit. The flat-to-fat brush works…kind of. The fat side really does LIFT. It loads a bit too much. The mascara does in fact have a buildable formula, but it’s so heavy that it weighs your lashes down. It totally defeats the purpose of lifting.
The flat side was much more enjoyable. It really did define, but didn’t exactly curl. So far, it sort of delivers on only half of its claims. I didn’t find it to be longwear. I had to wipe and clean under my eyes half way through the day. I ended up giving up and switching back to my old mascara as the work week went on. Needless to say, it’s only somewhat smudge resistant. I’d say it has an okay water-resitancy. It mostly survived through snow. I haven’t tested it through sweat resistance yet, as it’s winter right now, and we all know I’m not going to the gym.
I’m giving this mascara a solid 4.5/5 stars. I know I was complaining a lot about it, but it’s still a pretty decent mascara. It’s $32 at Sephora so it’s up to you if you want to try it. I’m hoping they come out with at travel size because I think that’d be worth testing to see if you’d want it.
