The OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Primer adds a bit of sparkle

I recently received the new OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Face Primer courtesy of Influenster for review. I’ve been using this primer for a few weeks now, and I have thoughts ladies and gentleman. It’s currently living on my makeup vanity but is it a keeper?

Firstly, let’s talk about what this primer boasts, and let’s see if it lived up to the hype.

What It Promised

  1. Vitamin C makeup primer for instant brightness and all-day glow
  2. Improves and extends makeup wear
  3. Leaves skin dewy and hydrated

Did I Glow?

The primer is tinted slightly orange with a bit of sparkle! It did actually leave me with a nice “glowy-ness” but I HATE things with an orange tint to it. I end up looking like an oompa loompa

Did My Makeup Last?

The product was comfortable and very wearable all day. However, my face looked so weirdly splotchy at the end of the day. My foundation was creasing, and it looked like it was pooling around certain areas. My foundation looked BOMB at the beginning of the day, but totally flopped towards the end.

Was My Skin Dewy and Hydrated

I’m not going to go as far to say that it was dewy and hydrated. My skin felt comfortable, and it wasn’t overly oily, but it looked kind of oily. Dewy I would describe to be cleaner than oily. This is not the best primer for oily skin.

Final Thoughts & Takeaways

Influenster and OLEHENRIKSEN suggest that you wear this product under foundation, or to mix it in with your foundation, or to wear it alone for a “I woke up like this” effect.

If my skin wasn’t so bad that I felt compelled to wear foundation all of the time, I’d wear it alone as well. I do think that there are primers that out perform it for a more reasonable cost. So which one is the best primer?

The OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Face Primer retails for $46 CAD (30ml)
The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer retails for $44 CAD (30ml)
The VDL Satin Veil Primer retails for $34 CAD (30ml)

If you’re looking for something that will give you a glow, go for the OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Face Primer. If you want the most long lasting, go for The Smashbox primer. If you want the best bang for your buck, go with the VDL one.
