How I’m Incorporating a Daily Tarot Card Reading Into My Life

I’ve had a pretty shitty past 3 weeks. While I don’t intend to go into details, I can say it was work stress related (that sounds broad and relatable right?). For someone like me who has run social media accounts, and continues to push out my own fashion photography onto Instagram taking a social media cleanse sounded like the craziest thing ever. Going on the cleanse helped me recenter myself.

I Picked Up My First Tarot Deck

I was walking through Costco getting my shopping done, when I came across a box kit for teenagers on reading Tarot Cards for everyday life. I really loved the way the cards were illustrated and went to work reading through the book that came along with the cards. You can purchase the book below:

How to start A Tarot Reading

  1. Set up your enviornment and space so that you feel relaxed and spiritually engaged
  2. Shuffle your deck well, and make sure the cards are all facing one direction. If this is a new deck and the cards are organized in order, try dealing out four piles, stacking them again, and then shuffling them before you begin.
  3. If dealing for yourself, ask a question while you shuffle. If your reading is for a friend, have them ask the question while you shuffle.
  4. Split the deck into three stacks as equally as possible. If you’re reading for a friend, have them separate the deck. Either you, or your friend can re-stack the three piles how ever way you wish.
  5. Depending on the type of question and lay out, select tarot cards from the top of the deck.

Doing a Daily Tarot Reading

To do a daily reading, you just need to pick out the top card. It came to a surprise to me that my very first card I ever picked was “The Empress” tarot card.

What Does The Empress Tarot Card Mean?

what does it mean if you draw the Empress tarot card in a daily reading? The Empress is considered a “Major Acana” card, which means they’re trying to call your attention to a big life moment or milestone. Essentially Major Acana cards revolve around life themes that need addressing.

[…] The Empress is all about creation and intuition. The Empress is a maternal figure, like the person in your friend group who always knows people will need extra snacks or Tylenol. Because The Empress is a card about nurturing your spirit, it’s also a card about nature. It’s the voice inside your head that’s centuries years old, like your gut instincts. If this card shows up, you’re either plenty in touch with that side of yourself or you need to reconnect stat. If it’s the later, tap into that gut instinct and help yourself out.

What can we learn from Tarot Cards?

What I took from this tarot card was that I had lost this “Queen” I always embodied. I needed to recenter with her since I lost so much confidence at work. I really lost who I was, and started thinking of myself as another number when I should always think of myself as a Queen. Tarot Cards I find have a lot of intuition and inference. Even if you aren’t psychically inclined, the cards do bring a cool perspective and insight into what you need to hear from them.

I now do a Daily Tarot reading to help myself reset my outlook for the day and to set me up with the right “energy” to tackle things.
