The perfect way to spend your birthday during a lockdown
Just because I had to celebrate my birthday this year in lockdown, didn’t mean that I wasn’t going to enjoy myself with a fancy afternoon tea.
I ordered an afternoon tea platter from my favourite bakery in downtown Markham, Patisserie Fleur. The first time I ever visited was with my best guy friend who loves sweets. Now, I don’t love desserts, but this place has won my heart over with it’s delectable and cute patisseries.
I’ve been dying to try their Afternoon Tea which is beautiful if you get to experience it in store. Unfortunately, with the lockdown this hasn’t been possible, but they do a delicious take out option.
The Afternoon Tea is only $30 before tax. It comes with 8 items and a drink choice.
The dessert tear was scrumptious! The macaron is dependant on the daily availability, and I got a mango flavoured one. It actually had such an intense mango flavour, it tasted like one of those mango gummy candies. The vanilla cream puff was amazing! It was stuffed and fluffy, and light. The strawberry yogurt mousse cake was light, and had a tasty strawberry centre. The Matcha tiramisu was so cute! The little pink top is a mushroom.
The savour portion of the afternoon tea were also scrumptious. The popcorn chicken was deliciously seasoned with aromatic spices. The Ham & Cheese Croissant was smokey and salty, which was a perfect balance to the sweet patisseries. The taro mash potato hash was one of the tastiest morsels I’ve ever had! It had a nice crunchy satisfying outer layer, and a smooth inner layer with pops of corn kernels. Lastly, the crab meat smoked salmon tart was the perfect two bite treat. I love a nice tart crust, and the immaculate texture was both crisp and soft.
Of course, afternoon tea wouldn’t be complete without tea! You have an option between a fruit tea, an ice matcha latte, an ice latte, or raspberry lychee soda. I chose the Ice Matcha Latte. I love that they put it into these custom cans!
I definitely thought that this afternoon was worth the $30! It was so filling and most other high teas are usually more expensive for less amounts of food. Just remember to order 24 hours ahead. It’s perfect for a birthday, an anniversary, or Mother’s Day!
