Taiwan Day 12: AIESEC Buddy adventures, Awesome Foods & Rainy Days

Before I even launch into the story about today, I want to launch into the story about last night. THERE WAS A MOSQUITO IN MY ROOM AND IT FED ON ME ALL NIGHT LONG. I am also 100% sure that a bunch of mosquitos (even though I zapped four of them) were biting me when I was doing the laundry yesterday! I have almost 20 new bites! They are so itchy! They are so terrible.

It rained the ENTIRE day today. It was pretty awful especially since I didn’t have my Roots Boots with me! I asked uncle what kind of shoes I should wear and he told me not to wear any real shoes since they would only get ruined in the rain so instead (after a conference with Min on FB chat) I wore my flip flops. BUT IT WAS SO BAD BECAUSE I REALIZED THAT THEY WERE BRIGHT BLUE AND DIDN’T MATCH THE CUTE DRESS I WAS WEARING! I had to go back and change like three times! In the end I settled on a pair of Abercrombie Denim Shorts (SO CUTE!) and a pale peach lace tank. Uncle even lent me a super cute floral umbrella. It matched my outfit and my personality! Although, as I was walking half way to meet the girls for lunch I had to run back to get a cardigan.

When I got to the restaurant I was the FIRST ONE THERE! I was a little bit freaked out because I was already late. I had to call the others to make sure they didn’t just leave without me! But What I ordered was really delicious and under $5. There was some deep friend chicken (I am trying tos tay away from Chicken but nothing else looked that awesome on the menu) some French fries, some pasta with cream sauce and even some salad! YAY SALAD! I really miss real salads though, the salads here are the small Asian portions…I WANT A REAL SALAD NOW. It was really delicious though. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed about Taiwan is how cheap the food is!

Afterwards we walked over to Daro’s house because we were so early. We literally just went to chill there for an hour and a half. Afterwards we went to find my AIESEC BUDDY <3 The most hilarious part was that we couldn’t spot his car because I had completely forgotten what it looked like! We were able to find it after I called him haha. AND GUESS WHAT? HE WAS TOTALLY ROCKING THE MOOSE TODAY! (For those of you who don’t speak shopaholic all it means is that you are ROCKING SOME ABERCROMBIE!)

It was such a amazing day today! My AIESEC Buddy was such a pimp today! (HAHAHA, I KID) He took all of us lovely ladies around Taiwan. We were supposed to go to the National Palace Museum but Min had already gone and warned us that it was very cold and BORING INSIDE! We asked Anky to surprise us and he took us to an area a little bit like the distillery district! It was so hipster! They had a movie theatre for movie premiers, and all of these cool stores with such cool souvenir items The only bad thing was the price ): It was so pretty there though! Anky says that a lot of people take their wedding photos there and I can totally see why! It is absolutely gorgeous there. If Anky ever comes back to Toronto to visit his cousin I am going to take him to the Distillery district!

Afterwards, Min got hungry so Anky drove us to this kind of underground parking? It was very strange…Afterwards he walked us to a place a little bit like a shopping district/night market. We got to try the super delicious red bean cake! Oh my, it was so stuffed and the cake was still hot. It was really good and only $0.34 SO DELICIOUS. Min bought some kind of freshly baked pork bun, but the meat juice SQUIRTED ALL OVER HER!  Afterwards we kept walking until we hit the MRT station. We then took it one station down because Min and Lerizze wanted to see Taipei 101. On our way walking to Taipei 101, the girls needed to use the bathroom so we walked into some kind of mall near by. It was really cool inside and pretty. But MIN’S HAND STILL SMELT LIKE MEAT JUICE! So I suggested that she spray herself with some perfume! We walked around until we hit some which she actually sprayed TOO MUCH OF. I had to help her and take some away ! ahaha.  When we got to Taipei 101 we bought some McD’s HAHAHA. Let’s be honest, we were a little bit hungry. The girls even “checked” in on Facebook so that we could pretend that we were rich enough to afford it. I even walked into the ROOTS and I felt so sad because I miss Canada so badly! It smelt so Canadian ): </3

Yay AIESEC BUDDIES!

Afterwards, we went to walk back to the MRT station. However, when we got there Min was feeling a little bit sick so she went home. After taking a few stops down Anky took us for some SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS TAIWANESE FOOD. We didn’t have to wait because we only had four people but there was actually a pretty big line. Anky ordered a bunch of delicious dishes for us to share!

There was a dish with green peppers and beef! There was also a noodle with peanut sauce and some kind of friend onion flat bread with veggies, and MORE FRIED VEGGIES. and a super delicious soup with pork balls and veggies. I had expressed to Anky that before I leave Taiwan, I wanted to try Taiwanese beer. Apparently now they are famous for fruit beers…SO WE TRIED SOME GRAPE BEER! It was actually pretty tasty! Yay us! The dinner was soo delicious!

Afterwards, I tried to swindle Anky into walking me home, but nope. He was having none of it and even strategically avoided my puppy dog faces…well played monsieur. Usually no one can resist the puppy dog face.

But all in all, today was SUCH an awesome day! Thank you AIESEC buddy <3

Yours till’ I die from all of the mosquito bites,
