Taiwan Day 5&6: Family Days, Girl Squeals & Food Poisoning

Tags:

So you might be wondering why it took me so long to upload another post. The truth is, I came down with a serious case of Food Poisoning lat night! But more on that later.

Yesterday was the very first day that I got to present about Canada! I was actually super surprised that the kids wanted to hear about Canada first! They were actually genuinely interested in it! I even gave out pencils to test their knowledge of the information I gave. It was so awesome! Afterwards, we felt exactly like celebrities. They kids actually came up to us and asked for our “autographs” We even got presents! I was given so many different snacks as well as A HOME MADE PENCIL CUP! The boy who gave it to me actually WEAVED THE BOTTOM! it is so beautiful! I will post a picture of it later, since I do not have one currently.

So it turns out that we must be very bad volunteers because we didn’t know that one of the ladies who works in the office; Yvonne was celebrating her birthday that day! She was so nice that she even came to give us CAKE! So Lerizze came up with the idea to record us singing happy birthday for her ad posting it to her facebook wall! It was really cute actually hahaha.

Since Lerizze was leaving early, she wanted to make the most out of her experience by going out that night. We settled on Raohe St. Night Market! It was a little bit confusing since we opted for the bus instead of the MRT where as Min was taking the MRT. She actually had to walk such a far way from the MRT and we felt so bad about it! It turned out that we are at opposite ends of the Night Market! We somehow managed to meet in the middle even with all of the people around!

When we first arrived at the Street Market…oh man you knew you were at the right place. It smelt like Stinky Tofu! URGHHH. the smell actually soaked into my hair! GROSS ): But on the bright side I did get to try deep fried milk. Daro had a crepe made by the stall owner! He had a feature in a newspaper and Lerizze and I thought he was cute so we chatted him up and took a video and some pictures of him! Image

We tried so many different foods and were on the hunt for shoes, accessories, and clutches for the AIESEC party we would be attending. We weren’t able to find any of those! Except for Min, who was able to find FABULOUS SHOES! Lerizze, Min and I all wanted the same pair of shoes but unfortunately our sizes weren’t available! Only Min was able to get a pair haha! But that’s okay, they look so GOOD ON HER! She even found apair of heels that were originally $690 and with the power of cute girlness Lerizze, Min and I were able to find smile our way into the lowered price of 630! At first we asked the grandpa for 600 but he said 650, so we LITERALLY put our heads together, pouted and went ): PLEASEEEEEE 630? How can you resist the power of three puppy faces?!

Min and I also shared some Tokoyaki, and a milk tea (no bubbles) that included a show! I will post the video on youtube in a little bit. We also met a man selling these kind of asian cookie things that I have never known the real name of (we usually eat them during new year) and HE even let us take a picture of him!

I am almost 100% sure that I got food poisoning from the Taiwanese sausage. I am just glad that I didn’t catch a stomach virus! Although I do not wish to blog this experience to you since it is very disgusting.

Today, we were able to go to uncle’s Father’s home. Grandpa is a volunteer at the Memorial Hall and took us around the Hall. We even watched the changing of the guards! It was actually very funny because I thought one of the guards were cute and Daro thought the other one was cute haha! I told her that it was perfect, one for me and one for her 😉

Grandpa was so nice that he used his volunteering to get me a discount on postcards! Get ready to read some sassy mail boys and girls <3 He also got me a ton of brochures about Taiwan and two different maps so I could plan it all out! HE IS SO AWESOME.

After the tour, Jerry (my homestay little brother) Daro and I went to Taipei 101! It is a MASSIVELY huge building! But to be honest, Daro and I are too cheap to pay to go up so we went around the department style mall instead haha!

We even went to do a little bit of shopping since I needed to pick up another eyeliner from Chanel ; )

My dream come true.

I also tried a Wasabi Macaroon, but it didn’t really taste like Wasabi…so…it was kind of a waste. I have a reaction video that I will post later on.

Afterwards, we headed over to Grandpa and Grandma’s for dinner. Unfortunately  because I was so sick, I wasn’t allowed to eat ANYTHING BUT RICE AND VEGETABLES. Grandma made shrimp and HAND MADE SPRING ROLLS! I LOVE SPRING ROLLS </3 She even made fried fish ): It was such a depressing moment! When I got to their home I literally passed out for an hour sleeping because whatever I ate the night before was killing me on the inside. SO SAD. I actually thought I was going to die that day though. It was really terrible. Jerry even brought me to his favourite toy store before! I tried really hard to enjoy it until Daro realized I was in a lot of pain…so we got some medicine for me haha! I did get some toys for my friends though! I hope they enjoy them <3
